DLZ, CSA tossers dispute top spot
MANILA, Philippines - De La Salle-Zobel (DLZ) and Colegio San Agustin (CSA) clash today in a duel of unbeaten teams with the top spot in the crossover semifinals at stake in the Toby’s Junior Volleyball League elims at the Toby’s Arena in Pasig City.
The DLZ spikers swept their first four matches to clinch a semis berth in the six-team Girls Pool B with the CSA side just a game behind with a 3-0 mark.
Miriam College (MIC), with a 2-2 card, tries to stay in the hunt as it plays ousted Makati Hope Christian School (MHC) in the other crucial encounter in the penultimate playdate of the elims of the league sponsored by Toby’s Sports and organized by Metro Sports.
Palanan Elem. School (PES) and Concepcion Elem. School (CES) likewise battle it out for the top spot in Boys A in the 10 a.m. opener with the former eyeing a sweep of the seven-team field and the latter seeking its fifth straight win.
CSA closes out its elims campaign against also-ran De La Salle-Lipa B (DLB) tomorrow while De La Salle-Lipa A (DLL) and the Jaguars (JAG), toting identical 3-1 slates, dispute the second semis seat in Girls A paced by Hope Christian School (HCS), which has a 4-0 mark.
Meanwhile, Boys’ A semifinalists DLL and Academy of God’s Children (AGC) also slug it out for the No. 1 spot tomorrow with the winner clashing with the No. 2 team in Boys’ B in the semis of the event backed by Shakey’s, Mikasa and Asics.
