MANILA, Philippines - Palanan Elem. School (PES) rolled past Colegio San Agustin (CSA), 25-9, 25-15, to formalize its stint in the semifinal round while De La Salle-Zobel (DLZ) and De La Salle-Lipa (DLL) likewise advanced in their respective divisions with straight-set wins in the Toby’s Junior Volleyball League at the Toby’s Arena in Pasig City last weekend.
The PES tossers dominated the CSA side with its power game to move within a win from sweeping the seven-team Boys’ A side with Concepcion Elem. School (CES) fancied to clinch the other berth in the crossover semis with a 4-0 slate heading to the last two elims playdates this weekend.
DLZ trounced De La Salle-Lipa B (DLB), 25-9, 25-17, to seal the first semis berth in Girls’ B while DLL disposed of Lourdes School (LSQ), 25-20, 25-5, to match early semifinalist Academy of God’s Children’s (AGC) 5-0 record in Boys’ B of the event sponsored by Toby’s Sports and organized by Metro Sports.
Rafael Palma Elem. School (RPS) beat Elizabeth Seton School (ESS), 25-7, 25-7, to close out its campaign in Boys’ B with a 4-2 mark for third followed by ESS (3-3), LSQ (2-4), Xavier School (XAS) (1-5) and Harrel Horne IS (HHS) (0-6).
Hope Christian School (HCS) took the first semis seat in Girls’ A with a 4-0 slate with DLL and the Jaguars, toting identical 3-1 cards, disputing the other semis spot on Sunday.
With a 3-0 card, CSA needs to win one of its last two games to join DLZ in the Girls’ B semis with Miriam College hoping to force a tie with a 2-2 slate in the six-team field in the event backed by Shakey’s, Mikasa and Asics.
