Arwind a cinch for best player award?
MANILA, Philippines - Armed with a league-best statistical points average of 36.5909, more than 3.0000 clear of his closest pursuer, Arwind Santos of Petron Blaze is hot on the trail of the Best Player of the Conference award going to Game Seven of the PBA Philippine Cup semifinals.
Endorsed by Sapal Elastic Sealant and Waterproofer, Santos, as one of the top five players after 22 games, automatically qualifies for the honor which he won in the Governors Cup last year.
“I really value the award but what is important at the moment is for our team to win and move to the finals,”said the former Far Eastern University stalwart.
Petron and Talk ‘N Text are tied, 3-3, after the Tropang Texters came back from a 1-3 deficit.
“We’re all rooting for Arwind to win his first Philippine Cup BPC award. He’s been a source of pride, not only for us but also for Philippine basketball,” said Magna Prime GM Derrick Tan.
After the quarterfinals, Santos, in 16 games played, averaged 18.3 points, 12.3 rebounds, and 1.2 assists.
A seat in the best-of-seven finals by the Blaze Boosters will immediately boost Santos’ bid for the ultimate recognition which narrowly escaped him last season – the MVP award.
