MANILA, Philippines - Aidric Chan powered Ateneo 2 to a sweep of the overall team and individual titles in the ICTSI-Jungolf Inter-school golf tournament finals recently at the Player course of the Orchard Golf and Country Club in Dasmariñas, Cavite.
Chan joined hands with cousin Carl Baldonado and Marc Corrales to coast to another unchallenged win in the Midgets 2 division in the culmination of the series given major backing by International Container Terminal Services, Inc. with the support of Philippine Airlines, Chevrolet, Pancake House Group, Teriyaki Boy and Sizzlin’ Pepper.
La Salle Greenhills took two of the five team events disputed but needed all the big games from its mainstays to ward off La Salle Zobel.
With its top guys back in the fold, LSGH 4 (Ivan Monsalve, Joaquin Ignacio, Joker Barbers, Nikolo Gatmaytan and Polo Lauron) reclaimed the Midgets 1 crown with a 228 for a three-point victory over La Salle Zobel and LSGH 1 (JP de Claro, Inigo Raymundo, AR Ramos and Gus Pacheco) finished eight points ahead of La Salle Zobel 1 in the juniors competition.
Xavier teams 4 and 1 placed third in both divisions.
La Salle Zobel’s Pauline del Rosario, Mikha Fortuna, Karren Ibuna, Astrud Moscoso and Bernice Ilas re-asserted their mastery of rivals from Assumption by topping the Girls 2 play with a 192 total.
While Chan cruised to a 13-point win in the Midgets 2 individual battle of the final leg with a 96-point effort, Lester Lagman of HSC scored a big upset over Kristoffer Arevalo of Colegio San Agustin in winning the Midgets 2 plum after piling up 99 points.
The other winners were Marvi Monsalve of St. Paul’s in Girls 1, Pauline del Rosario in Girls 2, Miguel Shah of La Salle Zobel in Juniors and Allan Bumagat of La Salle Taft in the Seniors bracket.
