UE, DLS-Zobel spikers keep win run

MANILA, Philippines - University of the East remained unscathed in seven games in the boys’ division while La Salle-Zobel stayed unbeaten in five in the girls’ side in UAAP Season 74 high school volleyball.

UE beat University of the Philippines Integrated School, 25-15, 25-11, 25-11, and La Salle-Zobel, 25-9, 25-13, 25-11, over the weekend at the UE Caloocan gym to dominate the boys’ field.

La Salle-Zobel, on the other hand, beat UPIS, 25-13, 26-24, 26-24, to keep the girls’ lead, ahead of UE, which defeated National University, 25-19, 25-23, 25-18, and University of Santo Tomas, 25-8, 25-12, 13-25, 15-25, 15-9, with a 5-1 card.

UST is running third with a 3-3 record, followed by UPIS with 1-5 and NU with 0-5.

In the boys’ side, NU and UST are tied for second with 5-2 records, followed by Ateneo with 3-4, La Salle-Zobel with 1-6 and UPIS with 0-7.

In seniors volleyball, the first round of eliminations ends today at the Arena in San Juan with Adamson facing Ateneo at 9 a.m. and De La Salle taking on UP at 10:30 a.m. in the men’s and Far Eastern University meeting NU at 2 p.m. and Adamson battling Ateneo at 3:30 p.m. in the women’s side.

Season 74 softball and juniors baseball action also starts today at the Rizal Memorial Stadium with matches between Adamson and De La Salle at 8 a.m., UP and UST at 10 a.m. and Ateneo and UE at 12 noon in softball and Ateneo and La Salle-Zobel at 3 p.m. in juniors’ baseball.
