MANILA, Philippines - Castrol Phl and Tuason Racing School, the country’s premier racing school, will hold a series of karting clinics beginning Jan. 15.
Open to kids aged 7 to 13 years old, the Castrol Champions of the Future discovery program teaches kids the basics of racing under the tutelage of multi-titled champions JP and Mike Tuason.
Those who will qualify will vie in a three-leg series for the overall crown at the Carmona racetrack in Cavite.
Young racing wannabes can join either of the three karting clinics with the other two sessions slated Feb. 5 and March 15.
The Castrol Champions of the Future races, on the other hand, will be held Feb. 26 at the Carmona racetrack, March 25 at the Boomland Kart Track and the championship on April 15 back at the Carmona tracks.
Last year, Raymond Cudala emerged overall winner of the Castrol Champions of the Future Series then went on to capture the overall Cadet SQ Expert crown of the National Karting series.
Aside from Cudala, other products of the program were William Casequin, Arthur Tuason, Flynn Jackes and Tai Zulberti, who made it in the top 5 of the Cadet SQ Expert class, and Bryan Thorp, Gabe Tayao, Dylan Arambulo, Xedrei Daquigan and Jose Luigi Lachica in the Cadet SQ Novice division.
“The pilot season of the Castrol Champions of the Future was truly inspiring. Initially, we expected only around three kids who really got what it takes to make it big in karting. But to see 10 or more of these kids shine in the National Karting Series was way beyond our expectation,” said TRS president JP Tuason.
“We are very happy over the huge success of the pilot season that it surpassed our initial goal and we hope to discover more of these future champions this year,” said Castrol president Mars Sota.
Scholarship seats are up for grabs for those who will be picked from the program.
