Loyzaga to grace Canlubang fun run
MANILA, Philippines - Philippine Sports Commission commissioner Chito Loyzaga has been invited to grace the awards rites of the Balik-Canlubang fun run slated Dec. 30 in Canlubang, Laguna which will formally kick off the week-long Balik-Canlubang community homecoming.
A huge turnout of runners is expected in two divisions – 10k and 5k – of the event over a course starting and ending at the St. Joseph the Worker church grounds with the rest of the race staged at the LEDC subdivision.
Ely Baradas, Balik-Canlubang overall chairman, will fire the starting gun in the race and officially usher in the festivities which include a golf tournament at Cangolf on Jan. 4, a motorcade and get-together party on Jan. 6 and a dinner-dance on Jan. 7 at the Don Bosco gym.
Race director Edison Ticson said the awards rites will be confined to the winners of the 10k open competition with the winners of the 5k run – exclusive for Canlubang residents – to receive their prizes during the Jan. 7 program.
There will be cash prizes at stake for the winners in the men’s and women’s divisions of the event.
The Balik-Canlubang homecoming will be participated in by bona fide Canlubang residents from all over the world who will converge on their old hometown for a weeklong of fun, camaraderie and fellowship. It is also set to raise funds to finance the cost of a medical mission for Canlubang old timers sometime in 2012.
