METTA rules men's side of Gov's Cup tourney

MANILA, Philippines - The Metropolitan Table Tennis Association (METTA) trounced the Table Tennis Association of North District, 3-0, to cop the men’s crown in the Lingayen Governor’s Cup National Table Tennis Open Championships at the Pangasinan State University in Lingayen, Pangasinan recently.

National player Ting Ledesma teamed up with Andrew Timson, Johann Remaneses and Walden Ledesma to dominate the TTAND side and pocket the top P25,000 purse.

Ledesma defeated Zoren Mendiola, 11-7, 10-12, 11-6, 11-6, while Timson rallied past Michael Dalumpines, 9-11, 11-9, 11-8, 14-12.

Walden Ledesma and Remaneses whipped Hombre Tiongson and Gil Ablanque in the doubles to complete METTA’s sweep.

On its way to the finals, METTA downed Alaminos in the quarterfinals then outclassed METTA B in the semis.

METTA, behind Ayra Malabayabas, Tin Pama, La Salle’s Kimberly Medina and Princess Tambo, also stamped its class in the ladies side to complete its domination of the event.
