Caloocan High hosts 2 chess tilts

MANILA, Philippines - The Caloocan High School Batch ’83 will hold a twin chess tournament on Thursday, including the Showdown of the Prodigies and the Battle of Champions, at SM City Novaliches Activity Center.

The “showdown” is open to kids 12 years old and below with the winner getting P5,000 plus P10,000 worth of scholarship from STI Novaliches, according to Sonsea Agonoy, president of the organizing Novaliches Novelty Chess Club.

Registration is ongoing at NNCC headquarters at Francisco Arcade, Damong Maliit, Brgy. Nagkaisang Nayon, Novaliches, Quezon City. Fee is pegged at P200.

Meanwhile, the Battle of Champions will feature the top finishers in NNCC’s weekly tournaments, backed by Carmelito Mejia, CEO of CVM Investments, Inc. of Rancho Cordova, California, USA, Marilou Roxas of Canada, Alice Allison, Francisco Aquilos, Esmeralda Panelo Caratiquet, Jocelyn Cruz, Gina Estanislao, Angelina Lenny Cutcheon Gutierrez, Al Jimenez, Rebecca Macaida Siman, James Orbeta Montenegro, Josh Causing, Jennie David Manalo. Other supporters are Arcade Sampang of D’ Plaza Caloocan and Joel Sampang of Texas, USA.
