MANILA, Philippines - The Integrated Cycling Federation of the Philippines (ICFP), headed by its president Dr. Philip Ella Juico, has donated a P25,000 check to the relief efforts for victims of Typhoon Sendong.
Dr. Juico yesterday said that the ICFP family, from officials and coaches, all the way to the cyclists and even utility personnel, chipped in their part in raising the money.
“It may be not much, but if everyone of us in sports, will share and do our part, I am confident we will be able to make an impact in the lives of the flood victims. We are all in this together, wala nang mga grupo-grupo dito – Filipinos for our fellow Filipinos,” said Juico.
“This is also meant to inspire others, who think that such a modest amount won’t make any difference. This is exactly the message that we are imparting – help is needed by our fellowmen big or small,” added Juico.
Typhoon Sendong hit the southern part of the Philippines last week, rendering thousands homeless in Cagayan de Oro and Iligan in Mindanao and killing more than a thousand, with several hundreds more missing.
Juico said that the ICFP is sending their donation through The Philippine Star’s fund drive, adding that donors may choose from among the several relief efforts available.
