Lady Eagles whip Tams, stay at 2nd

-

MANILA, Philippines - Ateneo got its rhythm back in the fourth set to foil Far Eastern University, 25-22, 25-21, 23-25, 25-20, and remain at second place in UAAP Season 74 women’s volleyball action late Wednesday at the Arena in San Juan.

The match actually headed for another five-setter in the day as the Lady Tamaraws brought the Lady Eagles down in the third set. But Alyssa Valdez, Dzi Gervacio and substitute Ella de Jesus combined in the fourth to frustrate the Lady Tams and clinch their fifth victory in six games.

Unbeaten defending champion De La Salle leads the field with a 6-0 mark.

Adamson University and National University made it a long Wednesday afternoon by going to the limit with the Lady Falcons pounding out an 18-25, 25-18, 21-25, 25-10, 15-9 victory.

Adamson improved to a 4-2 record to tie idle University of Santo Tomas at third place. FEU dropped to 3-3, while NU absorbed its fifth straight loss after its season-opening win over UP.
