Naguiat, Avante, Wu rule BMW tilt, gain Singapore finals
MANILA, Philippines - Stephen Naguiat scored 57 points to capture the Class A crown while Rolando Avante bagged the Class B title with 65 points in the BMW Golf Cup International 2011-Philippine national finals at Wack Wack Golf and Country Club recently.
Naguiat foiled Shinichi Ogihara and Emilio Chuatico Jr. for the top plum while Avante defeated Rudy Ferraren and Bernardo Cruz in their own side of the duel under the Modified Stableford scoring format as they gained berths in next year’s BMW Golf Cup International slated in March.
Anli Wu, meanwhile, will join Naguiat and Avante in the Singapore trip as she bested Mary Ann Reyes and Elenaor Leung in the ladies division of the annual tournament sponsored by Asian Carmakers Corp., the official importer and distributor of BMW in the country.
“BMW is one of the world’s supporters of golf,” said ACC president Marciar Parco. “Accuracy, precision, dynamism – these are some of the things that golf requires and are precisely the same characteristics that define the BMW brand.”
The 11th staging of the BMW Golf Cup drew around 80 participants with Naguiat, Avante and Wu to compete against the top finishers in 50 other countries.
