MANILA, Philippines - La Salle-Dasmariñas defused PATTS College of Aeronautics, 25-16, 25-23, 25-20, to clinch the No. 2 seeding in the semifinal round in the 19th National Capital Region Athletic Association (NCRAA) women’s volleyball tournament at the Philippine Merchant Marine School gym in Las Piñas yesterday.
Giselle Bembo took charge in the third set as the Lady Patriots held off the rallying Sea Horses to complete the sweep and finish the elims with a 3-1 slate.
Bembo came through with six services aces in the third, carrying the Lady Patriots past the Sea Horses after a 14-all count.
In men’s action, PATTS defeated Emilio Aguinaldo College-Cavite, 25-15, 25-18, 25-15, in the tournament backed by Mikasa and Molten Balls, and ANI AgriNurture, Inc.
Defending champion Rizal Technological University also had a 3-1 card but took the No. 1 spot with a higher tiebreak record.
The Lady Jaguars prevailed over the EAC-Cavite Lady Vanguard, 25-19, 25-18, 25-15, to earn the third seeding in the semis.
The Lady Thunder will meet the Vanguard on Jan. 10 in the knockout semis stage, while the Lady Patriots square off with the PSBA Lady Jaguars.
