FVR joins NGAP 50th yr golf today

MANILA, Philippines - Former President Fidel V. Ramos joins the long roster of guests teeing off today in the National Golf Association of the Philippines fellowship tournament marking NGAP’s 50th founding anniversary at Riviera’s Couples course in Silang, Cavite.

A long-time supporter of the sport, FVR is expected to hit the ceremonial drive along with the other invited guests from the Philippine Olympic Committee and the Philippine Sports Commission. Also seeing action in the 18-hole tournament are former NGAP officials, representatives of member clubs and sponsors.

Tee off time is from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.

Play will be a three-man team competition with all players to count under the Gross Modified Stableford Points scoring system. Also on tap is the individual competition in the regular, seniors, super seniors and ladies divisions.

The country’s golf governing body will also honor the past NGAP presidents and Filipino golf greats who have brought honor to the country after the tournament.

Chairman Rod Feliciano and president Larry Mendoza head the current NGAP board with Danny Pizarro as vice president, Jun Arceo as sec-gen, and directors Rico Agcaoili, Alice Andrada, Caloy Coscolluela, Jun Galindez, Tommy Manotoc, Pablo Soon and Bong Vilchez.

Other backers of the event are Mitsubishi Motors Phils, Stradcom Corp., Philippine Span Asia Carrier Corp., Mercedes-Benz, Dynamic Sports, AMA Education Group, Mizuno, Callaway, Omnisource International Inc. and friends of NGAP.
