MANILA, Philippines - Front-running La Salle and cellar-dwelling University of the Philippines clash today with the Lady Archers hoping to extend their winning run to five in UAAP Season 74 women’s volleyball at The Arena in San Juan.
Gametime is 2 p.m. with the Lady Maroons also out to snap a four-game losing skid in the season.
University of Santo Tomas will also try to sustain its own streak to three games when it tackles University of the East in the other match at 3:30 p.m.
Men’s action pits UST against National University at 9 a.m. and Far Eastern University against UE at 10:30 a.m.
The Lady Archers are coming off a marathon five-set victory over FEU, 25-22, 25-15, 23-25, 23-25, 15-11, when they clash with the winless Lady Maroons.
A doubtful starter for De La Salle is rookie Camille Cruz, who hurt her knee after a bad fall in the third set against the Lady Tamaraws. But still up front for the Lady Archers are the league’s top attacker Abigail Maraño, top blocker Michelle Gumabao and reliable Cha Cruz, Mika Reyes, Ara Galang and setter Mika Esperanza.
The Lady Maroons have yet to make their mark this season, their last loss coming at the hands of the Tigresses, 25-22, 15-25, 16-25, 18-25, last Sunday.
