Team Flatout cops Philippine Endurance Cup

-

MANILA, Philippines - The Team Flatout of Jay Castellano, Edward de la Rosa, Gerard Loy and Marc Thomann shared driving duties in a 1.6-liter Honda Civic to finish 159 laps in six hours and clinch the Philippine Cup, the longest endurance event in Philippine motorsports.

They were followed by Team TrackHOS who completed 153 laps in their GT Nissan Sentra. Third overall and first in FM-2 was Team Superlux with Rico Cheng, Eggy Ong and Jules Arambulo driving a stock 2008 Civic 1.8 in 149 laps.

Fourth place went to the veterans headed by Mike Potenciano in a Mark Young-powered Honda in 141 laps. Team MyMitsu took fifth overall and second in FM-2 after 134 laps.

Team MLPH grabbed the team championship by pushing its two cars into sixth and seventh places for a combined total of 230 laps. Baguio-based team Hygenix-Zola was plagued with electrical issues but managed to finish 52 laps for eighth.

The Philippine Endurance Cup, supported by Achilles Radial, Advanti Racing, V-Kool, Mini, DKC Tire Center, HKS Super Oil and SpeedLab, made history by being the most successful and longest endurance event in Philippine motorsports.

The grueling, six-hour race, recently held at the Batangas Racing Circuit, involved zero incidents, thanks to the stringent rules on safety and driving established by Enzo and Dalia Pastor, the event’s organizers.

Action in the classic race was close and exciting as all competitors ran on Achilles ATR Sport Tires, which balanced competition on the race track.
