NAMSSA holds final rounds of national motocross

-

MANILA, Philippines - The NAMSSA motorcycle sports festival gets under way this weekend with the staging of the final rounds of the national championships in different motorcycle sports events in Parañaque City.

Top level motocross action from the country’s best riders vie in 10th leg of the NAMSSA Motocross Development Program at the Speedworld MX Circuit at SM City Bicutan Saturday while on-road enthusiasts take center stage Sunday as Sonic Boom Motorsports holds the Repsol Road Race Championship (2011 Namssa Road Race Development Program) at SM Sucat.

The Bicutan series, sanctioned by Philippine Sports Commission, is backed by SM City Bicutan and the On Any Sunday (OAS) Group.

Pro rider Kenneth San Andres, the reigning motocross Rider of the Year, is all set to claim his fourth straight ROY title. He wants to cap his 2011 title bid in style and clinch the round titles in the Pro Open and Pro 125 categories against veterans Jolet Jao and Jovie Saulog.

Also up for grabs are class pennants in 11 other motocross divisions.

Four-wheel off-road fans will also be treated to ATV and UTV races featuring the top riders of the fast growing off-road sports. The annual NAMSSA boodle-fight fellowship party will be held after awards rites.

In the Sonic Boom Motorsports, the finals will determine the class champions from eight categories as well as the coveted National Underbone Rider of the Year and Underbone Rookie of Year titles.

The Repsol Road Race Championship is sanctioned by NAMSSA and likewise recognized by the PSC. It is backed by Gold Rush Distribution Corp. Philippines, the official Philippine distributor of Repsol Oils and supported by the management and staff of SM Sucat Supermall, which provided the venue of the five-leg street race series.

NAMSSA will also be staging Supermoto races in between the road race heats which will serve as the tune-up event for local riders competing in the FIM Asia Supermoto Championship, a continental event which will hold one of its legs in the Philippines in 2012.

The Supermoto categories are Open Production, Open Imported Enduro and Local Enduro.

The winners in the various NAMSSA motorcycle sports events will be feted in the NAMSSA Gala Awards Night at 9:30 p.m. on Dec. 21 at The Manor Superclub in Eastwood, Libis, Quezon City.
