Trasmonte, Galindez head Muaythai Fight for Glory cast

-

MANILA, Philippines - Southeast Asian Games 2005 bronze medalist Reynold “Onyok” Trasmonte and veteran international professional campaigner Erinio “Tata” Galindez topbill the 10-bout Muaythai Fight for Glory (Battle of the Best) unfolding Saturday beginning at 7 p.m. at the Philsports Arena in Pasig.

Stephan Fox, International Federation of Muaythai Amateur (IFMA) general secretary and World Muaythai Council vice president, is expected to sit at ringside together with Muaythai Association of the Philippines (MAP) president Lucas Managuelod.

In the undercard of the event sponsored by Colt 45 and Anzahl urethane paint, the match pitting 2007 Asian champion and 2009 SEA Games silver medalist Romnick Pabalate against professional internationalist Ignacio “Buhawi” Galindez is seen to generate as much excitement as the main bout.

Richard “The Flash” Sabrine, stablemate of the Galindezes in the Sabrine Fighting System, tests the mettle of Quezon City’s Danilo Dilag, who like Trasmonte of Makati and Pabalate of Dumaguete, trains under the MAP.

“I hope our boxers will be inspired by the presence of Stephan Fox, who is responsible for muaythai’s rise to one of the more popular sports in the world and the host of the TV show Challenger Asia (formerly The Contender),” Jun Dellosa, president of the organizing MAP Makati chapter, said,

“This event is our initial foray in our search for a Filipino fighter to figure in the Challenger Asia – which means he should be one of the best in the world,” Dellosa said.

The other matches in the Battle of the Best sanctioned by MAP with MAP technical director Andy Galvez supervising and supported by Philippine Sports Commission, Boysen Paints, Cobra, Gearheads and IEHI include Makati’s Janie Blanca versus Sibugay’s Mar Peter Bayaras, Zamboanga’s Ulissis Cabanlit against Parañaque City’s John Balmes, Zamboanga City’s Raymon Sorianosos versus Baguio City’s Franklin Dumlao, Mark Dialogo against Zamboanga City’s Michael Bonggot, Sibugay’s Vergel Amdico versus Quezon City’s Ronnie Virador and Antipolo City’s Fernando Venus against BFS’ Ruben Traza.
