MANILA, Philippines - A huge turnout of runners is expected in the Balik-Canlubang fun run slated Dec. 30 as part of the side events lined up for the Balik-Canlubang community homecoming slated Jan. 6-7, 2012 at the Don Bosco gym in Canlubang, Laguna.
Race director Edison Ticson said they expect a maximum number of 400 runners in two divisions of the event – the 10K and the 5K – as could be gleaned from a tremendous response from top-notch and weekend runners.
The fun run with competitions set in 10k, an open category, and a 5-K run exclusively for Canlubang residents was originally set Jan. 3 but the organizers decided to hold it earlier on Dec. 30 to ensure a better turnout of participants. The races start at 6 a.m.
Ticson said that the races will start in front of the St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Canlubang and will go through main streets of the Ceris One Subdivision and end in front of the church itself.
Cash prizes are at stake for the winners in the men and women divisions of the event.
The Balik-Canlubang homecoming will be participated in by bona fide Canlubang residents from all over the world who will converge on their old hometown for two days of fun, camaraderie and fellowship. It set to raise funds to finance the cost of a medical mission for Canlubang old-timers sometime in 2012.
