UE pips SSC on Sumang's charities

MANILA, Philippines - Roi Sumang canned in three pressure-packed charities in the closing seconds as UE came from behind to nip San Sebastian, 69-68, in the eighth Fr. Martin Collegiate Open Cup last Sunday.

Sumang’s last three points off a foul by Dexter Maiquez capped his 20-point performance. Von Chavez backed him up with 10 points as UE notched its second straight win for a share of the lead with Our Lady of Fatima University in Group B.

In other games, Emilio Aguinaldo College drew 16 points from Russel Yaya and 13 markers from John Tayongtong as it dumped La Salle-Lipa, 82-55, while Arellano University outlasted Trinity University of Asia, 58-55.

In women’s play, Adamson squeaked past National U, 65-64, while St. Benilde trounced La Salle-Lipa, 65-44.
