MANILA, Philippines - The first Timex 226 Bohol Iron Distance Triathlon fires off tomorrow at the Anda Beach Plaza in Bohol with the country’s top triathletes clashing for top honors in a test of endurance.
Rep. Arthur Yap (third District of Bohol) will formally launch the event featuring 3.8 kms of swimming, 180 kms of cycling and 42-km of running.
As triathletes test their mettle throughout the race, they will be passing through varied nature spots of Bohol that remain undiscovered until now along with pristine coastal waters and arching trees.
The event is sponsored by Timex, Explore Bohol, K-Swiss, Unilab Active Health, Gu Energy Gel, Amun Ini Resort & Spa, Pocari Sweat, Aboitiz Power and Bike King.
At stake are trophies as well as gift certificates or special items from K-Swiss. The top three male winners, top three female winners as well as all age-group champions will each receive a limited-edition watch from Timex.
The event, backed by Summit Media, Balls TV, The Philippine STAR and SBR, highlights Bohol’s drive to becoming the nation’s next top sports tourism destination as well as a cultural site under the leadership of Rep. Yap.
“Bohol is a teeming hub of never-before-seen experience – whether you’re a history geek, a culture vulture, or a nature buff, you definitely won’t leave the province without something to brag to your family and friends,” said Yap.
The first Timex 226 Bohol Iron Distance Triathlon marks the return of the full distance triathlon competition in the country after an absence of almost a decade.
