MANILA, Philippines - Miriam College and De La Salle-Santiago Zobel School scored easy victories at Xavier School gym recently to arrange a showdown for the 17-Under competitive division crown in the 24th Women’s Basketball League (WBL).
Miriam blasted St. Paul College-Pasig, 64-26, while DLZ-SZC whipped Assumption College, 52-37, to advance to the final of the tournament sponsored by Milo and organized by the BEST Center.
The WBL finals is set this weekend, also at the Xavier school gym.
In the 17-U developmental side, St. Pedro Poveda defeated Miriam College, 35-26, to set up a final duel with St. Bridget School, which edged Colegio de Sta. Rosa-Makati, 25-24.
In the 13-U semifinals, DLS-SZC clobbered Assumption-Antipolo, 34-19, to earn the right to face Miriam College, which zapped Saint Pedro Poveda, 30-21, for the crown.
The 25-U crown will be disputed by National U, which upset University of Santo Tomas, 56-52, and Philippine Women’s University, which crushed Don Bosco Technical College, 65-45.
