Kaya booters dominate Hyundai Manila Cup
MANILA, Philippines - Kaya FC ruled the Hyundai Next Generation Manila Cup Football Festival last weekend, ruling three divisions at the Sports Field in Greenfield City, Sta. Rosa, Laguna.
Kaya FC toppled Manila Soccer Academy to top the Boys 93; defeated CSA Southwoods to reign in the Girls 93; then bested Guadalajara FC 96 to rule the Boys 96 division.
The Muntinlupa United FC was crowned champions in the girls 93 division, beating Don Bosco Caritas A and Angelicum while UST Smuch FC beat Red Card for the Open crown with Accenture FC finishing third.
The Men’s Open drew 21 teams with Regus Tidus FC beating Angola FC in a penalty shootout for the crown. Josh Anador was the MVP for the division while Indian FC took third place by edging MSA.
The 2011 Hyundai Manila Cup Festival was organized by the Manila Soccer Academy and Pure Play Sports Management with support from Hyundai Asia Resources Inc. and venue sponsor Greenfield City.
Maximo Abad, president of host club Manila Soccer Academy, Hyundai’s president Fe Perez-Agudo and Philippine Azkal striker Ian Araneta graced the kickoff rites last Saturday which also featured competitions in the younger divisions (four-year-olds) topped by MSA and Atletico Diliman.
In the Born 2005 division, Atletico Diliman gained its second gold by beating Learning Links while DBYC-Mandaluyong nipped FC Schwarz for the 2001 division crown. MSA placed third.
In the biggest division, Born 1999, Achievers-Leveriza beat the Perpetual Altas for the crown with San Jose FC finishing third.
Jun Jun Mesa won the MVP award for the division.
Futbol Fanatics grabbed the gold in the 1997 division, beating Balayan FC and Schwarz FC while Arturo Perez bagged the MVP crown.
