Visayas dominates Milo Little Olympics
LINGAYEN, Pangasinan, Philippines – Team Visayas ruled the National Milo Little Olympics for the third straight year, beating National Capital Region and Mindanao at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center (NRSCC) here.
Vice Gov. Jose Ferdinand Calimlim Jr., who represented Gov. Amado Espino Jr., during the awarding and closing ceremonies, lauded the champions. He said competitions such as the Milo Little Olympics serve as perfect venue for young athletes to display their prowess in sports and also enable them to instill the value of unity, camaraderie, and sportsmanship which help them become “champions” in their own rights.
Meanwhile, Espino thanked the Milo officials for choosing Pangasinan as the venue of the games.
The governor said Pangasinan is looking forward to more Milo Olympics even as he noted that the province is overwhelmed for winning the bid to host next year’s Palarong Pambansa.
Visayas topped the elementary division, with the NCR and Mindanao bets finishing second and third, respectively.
NCR, on the other hand, lorded it over the field in the secondary level, beating Visayas and Mindanao.
The Milo National competitions drew around 1,500 athletes from over 930 schools in the elementary and secondary levels.
