Balik-Canlubang fun run on Dec. 30
MANILA, Philippines - The Balik-Canlubang organizers will hold the Balik Canlubang fun run on Dec. 30 as part of the side events lined up to hype up interest for the Balik-Canlubang community homecoming slated Jan. 6-7, 2012 at the Don Bosco gym in Canlubang, Laguna.
The fun run with competitions set in 10k, an open category, and a 5k run, exclusively for Canlubang residents, was originally set Jan. 3 but organizers decided to hold it earlier on Dec. 30 to ensure a better turnout of participants. The races start at 6 a.m.
Veteran marathon runner and race director Sonny Ticson said the races will start in front of the St. Joseph, the Worker, Catholic Church in Canlubang and will go through main streets of the Ceris One Subdivision and end in front of the church itself.
There will be cash prizes at stake for the winners in the men and women divisions of the event. The organizers hope that a PBA superstar will be invited to grace the awards rites.
The Balik-Canlubang homecoming will be participated in by bona fide Canlubang residents from all over the world who will converge on their old hometown for two days of fun, camaraderie and fellowship. It is set to raise funds to finance the cost of a medical mission for Canlubang old timers sometime in 2012.
The organizers of the affair are led by Ely Baradas, the Philippine Amateur Baseball Association (PABA) commissioner, and STAR Sports editor Lito Tacujan.
For inquiries, call Sonny Ticson at 0949-449-0389 or Louie Mijares at 0928-7795634. Registration fees are pegged at P200 for the 5k and P300 for the 10k event.
