Lions play Pirates in Martin Cup tilt
MANILA, Philippines - San Beda opens defense of its crown as it faces Lyceum at the start of the eighth Fr. Martin Collegiate Open Cup tomorrow at Arellano U gym in Legarda.
Gametime is at 10:30 a.m. with the Lions fancied over the Pirates in the tournament featuring the 16 varsity teams, including last year’s semifinalists Letran and Mapua.
Meanwhile, hostilities in the six-team women’s division gets going Sunday with St. Benilde taking on UST at 3 p.m. at the Trinity University of Asia gym in QC. Lyceum plays National U at 12 noon, while Adamson mixes it up with La Salle-Lipa at 1:30 p.m.
In other men’s matches, the Knights battle the La Salle-Lipa cagers at 12 noon while the Cardinals square off with the Informatics in the 9 a.m. opener.
San Beda, which beat Adamson, 72-62, in last year’s finals, heads Group A that includes Lyceum, Mapua, Informatics, AUF, Arellano University, Trinity University of Asia and University of the East-A.
The Knights and the Lipa Archers are in Group B with Emilio Aguinaldo College-Manila, Far Eastern University, Our Lady of Fatima University, STI College, San Sebastian College and University of the East-B.
