Souquet rips Biado in PBB Face Off
MANILA, Philippines - German ace Ralf Souquet continued his domination of the Filipino players as he whipped Carlo Biado, 9-3, in the Philippine Bigtime Billiards Face Off Series at Pagcor Airport Casino in Parañaque late Saturday.
It was Souquet’s second straight win in the race-to-9, 10-ball series as he also repeated over world No. 1 Dennis Orcollo, 9-6, in the kick-off leg of the circuit last week
Souquet, the former WPA World 9-ball and 8-ball champion, pocketed another $5,000 as he reasserted his mastery over Biado, whom he toppled twice in the Guinness 10-ball tour in Jakarta and the Philippine International Open 10-ball Championships in Manila last year.
“Luck played a part in my victory. Carlo is a very tough opponent and I really had a hard time beating him,” said Souquet.
The German took six of the first seven racks and never looked back to coast to the trouble-free win in the event backed by Mega Sports World and BRKHRD Corp. and supported by Pagcor, Crown, Diamond Table, Malungai Life Oil, I BAR, Golden Leaf Restaurant, Hermes Sports, Billiards Managers and Players Association of the Philippines (BMPAP) with The Philippine STAR as the official media partner.
Meanwhile, action in the series resumes next week with former world 9-ball and 8-ball champion Ronnie Alcano taking on former world 9-ball ruler Daryl Peach of Great Britain on Nov. 19 and world 9-ball champion Francisco “Django” Bustamante squaring off with Peach on Nov. 26.
