De Claro, Pacheco lift LS Greenhills

MANILA, Philippines - JP de Claro and Gus Pacheco pounced on the absence of the big guns to lift La Salle Greenhills to a big 49-point lead despite the absence of a third man after three rounds of the junior division play in the second leg of the ICTSI Inter-school golf tournament at the Tat Filipinas Golf Club course in San Pedro, Laguna.

De Claro collected 44 points while Pacheco added 42 for 86 points which was more than enough to propel their team to the top as erstwhile leader La Salle Zobel tumbled down in the absence of their top players who were out playing in an international competition in Thailand.

LSGH’s 54-hole total of 377 pushed them ahead of Ateneo 1 which pooled 95 for 328 with Christopher Corpus scoring 40, Charles Corpus adding 29 and Abot Monroy checking in with a 26. Xavier was fourth at 316 after a 121 while La Salle Zobel has a lot of catching up to do after Regis Casquejo showed up alone and his 32-point output sent his team falling to 311.

La Salle Zobel, however, padded its lead to 12 in girls 2 while St. Paul Pasig remained far ahead in Girls 1 of the tourney given major backing by International Container Terminal Services, Inc. with the support of Philippine Airlines, Chevrolet, Pancake House Group, Teriyaki Boy and Sizzlin’ Pepper.
