Peek still clueless on shooting incident

- Alder Almo -

MANILA, Philippines - PBA cager Ali Peek is recovering well after he was shot by a still unidentified gunman last Tuesday night at the RFM gym’s parking lot.

In his first public appearance, Peek broke his silence in an interview that appeared over TV5’s Aksyon and AKTV on IBC.

“It’s hard but this is what it is. I’m confused (on the motive). It’s up to his (gunman) conscience but as far as I’m concerned, I’m happy that I’m alive,” said the 36-year old Talk n’ Text center.

The burly cager, who is averaging almost close to 10 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks in the ongoing PBA All Filipino Cup, has yet to decide though whether to go under the knife to get the bullet out of his neck or not.

“My doctors told me to take my time,” said Peek, who recounted that he did not see the face of his assailant.

Her mother, who arrived last Wednesday, wants to seek a second opinion on what to do with the lodged bullet in his son’s neck which is just millimeters away from his spine.

“The most important thing right now is my recovery, the safety of my family and myself,” Peek said.

He also thanked his teammates, the Talk n’ Text management, the fans and his PBA family for their continuous prayers and support.

Meanwhile, Peek’s best friend Don Allado of the Barako Bull Energy announced on his twitter that he is willing to add P20,000 to the half a million peso reward offered by Talk n’ Text honcho Manny V. Pangilinan for the gunman and the mastermind behind the shooting incident.

“Plug it Friday (today) during my game. 500 thousand MVP award, 20 thousand additional if I can get 5 minutes alone with Ali’s shooter,” Allado told PBA anchor Magoo Marjon in his twitter account (@alotofDon) yesterday.

The Mandaluyong Police have also urged tipsters to be responsible as their hotlines – (02) 532-2145 or (02) 532-2797 – have been deluged by prank calls.
