Gameville, POW50 top Burlington srs caging

-

MANILA, Philippines - Gameville Los Pasigueños held off Biñan, 87-81, to capture the Biofresh 40-and-above crown while POW50 bagged the Shock XT 50-and-above title with a 95-83 romp over Divina Law/Brgy Bangkal in the first Burlington Life Begins@40 basketball tournament at Brgy. Bangkay gym in Makati last weekend.

Manolo Conception fired 21 points while Alvin Medina and Joel Jabar combined for 29 markers as Gameville bucked the 22-point output of Joselito Bautista to complete its sweep of the premier division of the six-weekend tournament sponsored by Burlington.

Bautista, however, bagged the MVP honors while POW40 thumped Cogeo Sat-Sun Basketball Club, 92-74, to claim third place honors.

POW50, on the other hand, drew double-digit scores from six players to beat the hosts with Steven Ong churning out 20 points and Nilo Mangila adding 19. Other scorers for POW were Genaro Agaton (14), Jose Rea (13) and Felix Tabunda and Moises Rivera, who both had 10 points. Ong went on to cop the MVP plum.

Pido Pacurib sizzled for 30 points for Divina Law, which just couldn’t keep pace with the hot-shooting POW50 side in the tournament backed by Business Mirror and Malaya Business Insight.

Electrobyte nipped Paco Catholic School ‘74, 63-61, to finish third in the 50-and-above class.

Meanwhile, Biñan’s Joselito Bautista and Troy Bautista took the top honors in the Conti Balls father-and-son three-pointshootout in the 40-and-above class, beating Big J’s Geronimo Caidic and Ronwell Caidic, and POW 40’s Jose Rea and Mark Joseph Rea.

The Reas won the 50-and-above crown as they bested SunMoon’s Chito Rivera and JC Rivera while PCS ‘74’s Teddy Pereña and Nomer Theodore Pereña finished third.

Cogeo’s Ramiro Bayot and Ana Nina Bayot topped the Ana-Jet Apparel Printer father and daughter free throw contest (40-and-above), outpointing Biñan’s Robinson Manabat and Gabby Manabat and POW40’s Rodrigo Bontigao and Dustine Von Bontigao.

Divina Law’s Alfonso Camino and Ann Juillet Camino pocketed the 50-and-above plum as they edged PCS ‘74’s Jose Ferrer and Samantha Ferrer and POW50’s Rodrigo Bontigao and Dustin Von Bontigao.
