MANILA, Philippines - Inspired by the big turnout of its kickoff leg at Sherwood Hills recently, the first Pilipinas Amateur Golf Series hopes to increase its number of tournaments to accommodate more players in the coming qualifying legs.
The circuit has actually lined up nine legs in its maiden season with organizers currently in talks with Camp John Hay, Riviera, Summit Point and Valley Golf for possible inclusion in the series.
Designed to provide amateurs of all ages with certified handicaps and a circuit of their own, the PAG Series hopes to become a breeding ground of talents who could be tapped and trained for future national teams.
At Sherwood, there were participants as young as 12 years old.
Splendido Golf Club will host the second leg on Nov. 16 in Tagaytay City where a Texas Eagle golf cart, a Mizuno Golf set and a GPS Tracker with one-year UnliTrack subscription service will be up for grabs as hole-in-one prizes.
Sponsored by Mizuno, Callaway, Cleveland, CJH, Impact, Mizuno, Nike Golf, Pinoygolfer, Srixon, Raymundo’s Trophies, Texas Eagle and Turf Co., the series will next go to Northwoods, Malarayat, Forest Hills, Cebu CC and Ayala Greenfields, and either Pueblo de Oro or Apo Golf Club.
