MANILA, Philippines - Reigning world 8-ball champion Dennis Orcollo is all set to face Ralf Souquet of Germany in the Philippine Bigtime Billiards (PBB) Face Off Series starting Nov. 5 at the Pagcor Airport Casino in Parañaque.
“I have to train hard for this, to give my best, and to give a good show,” said Orcollo, the world’s No. 1 player.
The ace player from Bugsy Promotions lost to Souquet, 8-5, in the World Pool Masters finals last month in Manila, and is eager to avenge that loss.
At the same time, he’s using this tournament as a tuneup for the coming SEA Games where he is tipped to win the gold.
Souquet, former world 8-ball and 9-ball champion, will arrive on Nov. 2 in time for a press conference at the Billiards Managers and Players Association of the Philippines headquarters in Quezon City.
Other matches will pit Carlo Biado vs Souquet (Nov. 12), Ronato Alcano vs Daryl Peach of Great Britain (Nov. 19) and Francisco “Django” Bustamante vs Peach (Nov. 26).
The PBB Face Off is a joint undertaking of Mega Sports World and BRKHRD Corp in cooperation with Pagcor, PCSO, Accel, Diamond Table, Predator Cues, Simonis Cloth, San Miguel Beer Pale Pilsen, Malungai Life Oil, I-Bar, Human Plus Probiotics, Golden Leaf Restaurant, Hermes Sports, Billiards Managers and Players Association of the Philippines, with The Philippine STAR as official media partner.
A race-to-9, 10-ball affair, the Face Off will be aired worldwide through the Internet at www.megasportsworld.com and Solar Sports, Sky Channel 70 and Destiny Channel 34 every Saturday.
The Orcollo-Souquet match will usher in a series of challenge matches being put up by Mega Sports World and BRKHRD Corp.
