LSGH widens lead in ICTSI inter-school golf
MANILA, Philippines - Veteran internationalist AR Ramos and Iñigo Raymundo combined for 107 points to power La Salle Greenhills to a 12-point lead over La Salle Zobel in the junior division after Week 3 of the ICTSI Inter-school golf tournament second leg at the Aoki course of the Eagle Ridge Golf and Country Club in Gen. Trias, Cavite.
Ramos scored 54 points while Raymundo added 53 for LSGH’s 155 counting the 48 of JP de Claro. The 19-point improvement from their previous 136 at AFP Golf Club gave the Greenhills squad a 291 total for 36 holes.
Jama Reyes carded 51 but Miguel Shah and John Molina returned 47 and 37, respectively, giving the Zobel trio 144 for the day and 279 overall in the tourney backed by International Container Terminal Services, Inc. with the support of Philippine Airlines, Chevrolet, Pancake House Group, Teriyaki Boy and Sizzlin’ Pepper.
St. Paul Pasig and Assumption, meanwhile, held sway in the two girls divisions in the competition that marked the return of Eagle Ridge as host venue for the Junior Golf Foundation of the Phils.
St Paul (Daniella Uy and Marvi Monsalve) was far ahead of Assumption (Bianca Pagdanganan and Gabrielle Bruce) in girls 1 while Assumption (Sam Bruce, Annika Cedo and Andrea Pineda) was neck and neck with La Salle Zobel (Pauline del Rosario and Bernice Olivarez-Ilas) in the girls 2 play.
Uy chalked up 50 and Monsalve added 43 for 93 points and a 185 aggregate, leaving behind Assumption which had 90 and 127.
Assumption held off the big rally of La Salle Zobel with Bruce posting 52 and Cedo 43 for 95-186. Del Rosario made 51 and Ilas 49 to cut the gap to just one as they combined for 100 for a two-round total of 185.
Leading their divisions in individual play were Uy (99) and Monsalve (86) in girls 1, Sam Bruce (96) and del Rosario (94) in girls 2 and Reyes (106) and Ramos (102) in the junior division.
