UE ready to defend titles in badminton

MANILA, Philippines - The University of the East is defending its men’s and women’s badminton titles against tough opposition in the ongoing University Games in Roxas City, Capiz.

UE Physical Education Dept. College secretary Angelina Yusay is head of delegation.

The four-peat men’s division badminton champion UE, mentored by coach Rocky Magnaye, pins hopes on Darryl Solidad, Ramon Lorenzo Guerrero, Jose Luis Emmanuel Gomez, Marco Antonio Emmanuel Bermejo and UAAP season 71 most improved player Don Johnson Agustin in the men’s division.

The women’s team, the UAAP season 74 reigning champion, will have Bianca Gail Reytas, most improved player Rochelle Andres, Kimverly Gatpolintan, May Laurece Pamorada, Bianca Marie Nicole Semilla, and most valuable player Jamila Fatima Cruz in UE’s bid for back-to-back crowns.

Also seeing action is the Red Warriors men’s track and field team, composed of Abraham Alzona, Jerby Deriada, Art Thomas Fronda, Wenlie Maulas, Ernie Opiana and Richard Salanio. The coaches are Arthur Fronda and Leo Viajar.
