NU, Olivarez down rival, set title clash

-

MANILA, Philippines - Top-ranked National U and third seed Olivarez College toppled Emilio Aguinaldo College and Far Eastern U, respectively, to arrange a title showdown in the Collegiate Development League last Friday at the Rizal Coliseum.

Playing true to form, NU’s Team B, which swept the first round and the quarterfinals phase, broke out from a tight game in the first half and went on to fashion out a 65-49 victory in the tournament sponsored by the Philippine Sports Commission and Sandugo Sandals.

The Sea Lions, on the other hand, beat the Tams, 84-78, in a fight-marred game to clinch the other finals berth in the tournament backed by Gatorade, Phiten, Molten and Primovit Multi-vitamins.

Robert Faundo made eight straight free throws in the last minute-and-a-half to ensure the victory for the Sea Lions.

Olivarez and NU dispute the crown on Oct. 29 in a winner-takes-all finale, also at Rizal Coliseum.
