MANILA, Philippines - The FilOil Flying V Arena in San Juan has been named the official home of the 2011 National Collegiate Championship games which fires off next month with the Metro Manila elims.
Champions League (PCCL) chairman Reynaldo Gamboa, and Raffy Villavicencio, head of FilOil Flying V Sports, forged the agreement recently, making the Arena as venue of the annual tournament among collegiate basketball champions.
The Arena will host the Metro Manila qualifying games on Nov. 8-10. Two seats to the “Sweet 16” Finals of the national championship are at stake.
It will also be the venue for the “knock-out step-ladder” games of the Sweet 16 Finals starting on Nov. 19 and the Final Four round-robin championship starting Dec. 5.
In signing the agreement, Villavicencio said the FilOil Flying V Sports partnership with Champions League for the past five years demonstrates the commitment of the Villavicencio Group of Companies to the promotion and development of Philippine sports particularly the country’s collegiate basketball.
FilOil Flying V Sports is also the organizer of the popular “pre-season” tournament which runs from April to June featuring UAAP and NCAA teams.
Gamboa said the sponsorship of FilOil Flying V Sports includes advertising presence in the regional championship games to be played at UNP Gym at Vigan City, Naga Coliseum at Naga City, Almendras Gym at Davao City and Ormoc Astrodome at Ormoc City.
