MANILA, Philippines - Philippine School of Business Administration celebrated the return of veteran Vic Manuel as the Jaguars held off the Olivarez College Sea Lions, 94-87, in overtime in Game One of the Universities and Colleges Athletic Association (UCAA) men’s basketball finals.
Manuel shot a game-high 41 points, including eight points in the extra period, powering the Jaguars past the Sea Lions at the latter’s turf at the Olivarez gym in Sucat.
Manuel and Justine Puno hit back-to-back triples that shattered the 79-all count.
Mark de la Cruz, who led the Sea Lions with 30 points, made a split to make it 87-89 but the Jaguars scored on next possession then forced the Sea Lions to a turnover in the last 30.4 seconds.
The Jaguars shoot for their first-ever crown in seven years with another victory on Thursday at the Ugnayang La Salle gym at 11:30 a.m.
