UPLB, UPLB alumni stage KapaligiRUN

-

MANILA, Philippines - The UPLB and the UPLB Alumni Association will hold the KapaligiRUN on Saturday to raise funds for the protection and conservation of the Mt. Makiling Forest Reserve.

The footrace is one of the activities slated during the three-day celebration of the 93rd Loyalty Day and Alumni Homecoming with a theme “UPLB Leads Green,” which sums up UPLB and the UPLBAA’s continuing effort towards a greener, sustainable, secure, and safer environment.

KapaligiRUN will start from UPLB’s historic Baker Hall to Pili Drive, Makiling Botanic Gardens and Magnetic Hill. Events on tap are the 3k, 5k, 10k and 21k.

Corporate sponsors and participants are invited to take part in KapaligiRUN. For details, call Belinda Costales at +63 49 536-4649 or email [email protected]. (UPLB Link).

UPLB and UPLBAA have partnered to promote the Green advocacy in the campus and in the entire country.

Through KapaligiRUN, UPLB and the UPLBAA hope to generate funds to be used for integrated development programs of the Makiling Forest Reserve (MFR) and other spots in the UPLB campus into one of the country’s leading ecotourism destinations.

The MFR is a 4,244-ha natural tropical rainforest and a biodiversity hotspot teeming with thousands of plant species, including more woody plant species than what can be found in the US. The MFR is the last natural forest in this biogeographical zone, making its conservation imperative.
