Blu Girls lauded for finishing 4th

-

MANILA, Philippines - Despite the Blu Girls’ fourth place finish in the 10th Asian Women’s Softball Championship, ASAPHIL president Jean Henri Lhuillier said he was satisfied with their performance and vowed his continued support to the team.

“There is no doubt that this team is good and worth supporting,” said Lhuillier, whose companies Cebuana Lhuillier, Pera Padala, Cebuana Lhuillier Insurance Solutions and, Le Soleil de Boracay, together with the Philippine Sports Commission, backed the Blu Girls’ campaign in Taiwan.

“Last year, we won the ASEAN Championship in Indonesia and we expect the Blu Girls to again dominate this year’s SEA Games, also in Indonesia.”

He added that softball is a sport where Filipinos can really excel given the needed international exposure and support.

ASAPHIL, according to Lhuillier, will continue its efforts to help develop the athletes’ skills through various trainings and further promote softball in the country to expand the base of potential national team members.

The Blu Girls made it to the Final Four the hard way, beating Singapore and South Korea but fell to Chinese-Taipei for a spot in the finals.
