Architects hold monthly tourney

MANILA, Philippines - The Architects Golf Club holds its monthly tournament today with Adones Baluyut and Andrei Amadeo going for back-to-back victories at the Eastridge Golf and Country Club in Binangonan, Rizal.

The shotgun start tee-off is set at 7:30 a.m. with the field playing under the stroke play format and competitions up in the match play and golfer of the year events.

Sponsored by Boysen Paints, the event is backed by Emerald, JME Supreme International, Koten, August Quality Flooring Specialist, Columbia Wires & Cable, Easy Pha-Max Phils., Inc., Firefly Electric and Lighting, International Elevator & Equipment, Inc., Republic Chemical Industries and Steeltech.

Meanwhile, Baluyut and Amadeo topped their respective divisions in last month’s tournament at Eagle Ridge’s Aoki course in Cavite.

Baluyut, a 10-handicapper, shot a gross 79 for a net 69 to capture the Group I crown with Pelagio Alcantara Jr. and Ruel de Castro finishing second and third with nets of 73 and 77, respectively.

Amadeo, on the other hand, made a gross 87 and a net 67 to cop the Group II title. Romeo David placed second with a net 72 from a gross 93 while Santiago Santiago shot a 95 for a net 74 third.

Wilson Sioco took the Group III plum with a gross 100 and a net 75, beating Richard Tan and Joven Guevarra, who both had gross 105s for nets of 78 and 77, respectively.

Rodelo Umali bagged the Group IV title with a gross 105 and a net 73, nipping Graciela da Jose, who had a 106 and a net 72, while Daniel Sabularse scored a 110 and a net 78 for third.

Ric Mongalo fired a gross 93 and a net 76 to clinch the seniors diadem over Remigio Abello, who also had a net 76 from a gross 104.
