Escalante shoots for win in national karting leg

MANILA, Philippines - Tuason Racing’s Basti Escalante tries to firm up his title bid as he shoots for a victory in the sixth leg of the 2011 National Karting Super Series at the Clark International Speedway in Angeles City on Sunday.

Escalante, 14-year-old De La Salle Grade 7 student, needs to sweep the last two legs of the series to capture the Formula SL Novice crown.

He is supported by The Philippine STAR, Tuason Racing School, Castrol, OMP, C! Magazine, Oakley, Discovery Suites, Belo Men, Toptul, Aguila Auto Glass, Speedlab, and his individual sponsors Audi, Transnational Diversified Group, Werdenberg International Corp., Bridgestone, Puma, Coke Zero, Bank of Commerce, Emcor, KServico and Washington Watches.

“It’s been a challenging campaign this season. It took a lot of hard work, patience and defensive strategy to get me this far and winning the crown will be the best reward for all the efforts,” said Escalante, who won the mini-ROK title last year.

Out to foil his bid is Sacha Feliciano, who leads Escalante by four, 327-323, after the Enchanted Kingdom leg.

Escalante, one of the pioneer products of the Tuason Racing School Racing Career Management Program (TRS-RCM), practiced last week at the Clark International Speedway where he got some techniques from his champion coaches JP and Mike Tuason on how to tackle the East and West Course of the said track.

“He quickly learned what we taught him. I believe he’s ready but we stressed the virtue of patience and right timing in winning the race,” said Mike Tuason.

The Tuason Racing School Racing Career Management Program (TRS-RCM) helps young racers achieve a successful career path in motorsports. Multi-discipline racers and champions JP and Mike Tuason designed the program patterned after that of Formula One drivers to fast track the development and training of young potentials into champion racers.
