MANILA, Philippines - The Metropolitan Chess Club holds its monthly 1900 below standard chess tournament this weekend with a big field expected to see action at Eton Cyberpod Corinthian on Ortigas Ave. cor EDSA.
The five-round Swiss system event is open to all beginners, unrated and rated players with NCFP ratings not more than 1900. Participants may play in the two-day competition or the one-day tourney.
The two-day schedule will have a 75-minute time control while the one-day tournament will have a 20-minute time control in the first three matches then 75 minutes in the last remaining two games.
Matches will start at 1 p.m. on Saturday while the one-day event is set at 11 a.m. on Sunday with a total prize pot of P10,000 at stake.
