MANILA, Philippines - The country’s leading golfing ladies take the spotlight next month when they slug it out for top honors, along with their guests from various sectors, in the Highlands Ladies Cup slated Oct. 23 at Tagaytay Midlands Golf and Country Club in Tagaytay.
A maximum field of 150 is expected to see action in the sixth staging of the most anticipated tournament in the ranks this time of the year, staged to foster camaraderie among the country’s top golfing lady executives and corporate bigwigs as well as their guests in the government and private sectors.
CATS Motors, exclusive distributor of Mercedes-Benz, is the event’s chief backer as Platinum sponsor with San Miguel Corp. coming in again as Gold sponsor together with W Fifth Ave. Bldg.
SM Retail, Bingo Bonanza Corp., ComWorks, Inc. and Philippine Airlines, which stakes two round-trip tickets to India, head the list of Silver sponsors.
Making up the Bronze sponsors are Focus Global-SieMatic and Miele German Kitchen, Regent Travel, Kaiser Health Insurance, Air Philippine Express and Coca-Cola Bottlers Phils. while SM Hotels and Convention Center and Orocan head the list of supporters.
Felix Ang, president of CATS Motors, Willie Ocier, vice president of Belle Corp., Jorge Mendiola, SM Retail president, and Sandy Romualdez, team captain of Tagaytay Highlands ladies team, will hit the ceremonial drives to kick off the event, organized by the Tagaytay Highlands Ladies Chapter.
The 18-hole tournament will have a shotgun start and will be played under the System 36 scoring format.
Prizes will be up for grabs in the various categories of the tournament, won by Eva Miñoza (Class A) and Baby Lagura (Class B) last year.
Low gross winner Gilbert Villanueva and low net champion Sammy Sy are both expected to be back to defend their respective crowns along with men’s division winners Bayani Tan (Class A), Severo Leagogo (Class B) and Jose dela Rama (Class C).
