Young rider leads 1-2 finish for Fern-C racing

-

MANILA, Philippines - The youngest driver in the field showed he got what it takes to be the next champion as Milo Rivera pivoted Fern-C Racing’s 1-2 domination recently in the eighth leg of the 2011 Race Motorsports National Slalom Series at the SM South Mall Parking Grounds.

Milo, a 16-year-old Don Bosco student and the reigning slalom Novice champion, upstaged all the veteran and more experienced drivers, including his mentor-teammate and current points leader Noel Rivera in clinching his first season victory.

He submitted the overall best time of the day aboard a Gulf Speed-prepared Toyota Starlet, clocking 38.82 seconds to capture his first Production crown that served as a fitting feat to mark the first year anniversary of the Fern-C slalom racing team powered Gulfspeed, G-Motors, Karcraft, Monte Carlo Motors and Rey Electrical.

His time was just fractions of a second faster than Noel Rivera who bagged the overall runner-up title with a 38.90 seconds also on a Gulf Speed Toyota Starlet.

The Fern-C Racing duo was all revved up for the event as they took control early in the first heat and never looked back from thereon. The Bill Chill pair of Dr. Peewee Mendiola and Jojo Camacho, and front-wheel champion Niño Sarte even staged aggressive late charges but their efforts failed to stop the two from winning.

The National Slalom Series goes to Robinson’s Nova Market for its 9th leg on Oct. 9 where the FERN-C pair hopes to continue its run of strong finishes. The pair will be joined by 15 year-old Karting Champion Estefano Rivera who will make his Slalom debut in the Newbie and Junior classes.
