MANILA, Philippines - Barangay 811 of Paco turned back Barangay 738 of Singalong, 87-82, during the inaugurals of the Metro Manila leg of the first Handy Fix Super League National Barangay Championship at the San Andres Gym over the weekend.
Richard Romero of Brgy. 811 was named best player and teammate Marjay Gutierrez defense player of the game.
In the other match, Barangay 802 of San Andred Bukid edged Barangay 72 of Tondo, 76-72, with Brgy. 802’s Frank Vidal and Bing Natividad chosen best player and defensive player of the game, respectively.
“As we’ve always advocated, this event was created to give opportunity to barangay athletes so they can compete on a national level,” said Derrick Tan, GM of Magna Prime Distribution Corp., makers of Handy Fix Multi-Purpose Adhesive and Sealant. “Looking forward to the city-wide, regional and finally the national finals.”
PBA superstar Arwind Santos, Sapal Elastic Sealant and Waterproofer endorser, has urged participants of the Handy Fix Super League to give the competition their best and be guided always by the spirit of sportsmanship and fair play.
The national champion gets P25,000, first runner-up P15,000, second runner-up P10,000, and third runner-up P5,000.
