MANILA, Philippines - Davao City’s top bets Austin Jacob Literatus, Rowelyn Joy Acedo and Dhona Yngayo dominated the Mindanao leg of the 19th Shell National Youth Active chess series at SM Davao Event Center in Davao City.
Literatus and Yngayo, both students of Doña Carmen Denia National High School, ruled the boys and girls kiddies 14-under divisions, respectively, while Jose Maria College standout Acedo topped the junior girls event.
In the boys, juniors division, sixth seed Jon Christian Lesaca of Cor Jesu College of Digos also prevailed in their division to secure a berth to the national finals to be held at the SM Megamall on Oct. 8-9.
The Shell Active Chess is a programme of Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corporation which supports the empowerment of the Filipino youth.
