MANILA, Philippines - The newly formed Cavite Sailfish Swim Club will host the 14th edition of the Philippine Swimming League monthly competition, dubbed Goodwill Swim Meet 2011, on Oct. 30 at the De La Salle University 50-meter pool in Dasmariñas, Cavite.
The competition, open to all swimming schools, clubs, teams and individual swimmers, will apply, for the second tie, the “age band” format where swimmers with relatively the same clocking will compete against each other regardless of age.
However, the age group winners will still be determined by their clockings in their own age groups.
Over 400 swimmers, aged eight to 17 and 18-above, are expected to come from various regions, including Manila, Quezon City, Batangas, Quezon Province, Pangasinan, Olongapo, Bicol, Bohol, Cebu and Davao, which will be joining members of the Southern Tagalog Amateur Swimming Association (STASA).
The meet is open to everyone, and no membership is required, said PSL president and founder Susan Papa.
“We expect more records broken again because of the continuing swimming program among the competing clubs,” said Papa.
