Sacha makes it two in row in Petron karting

-

MANILA, Philippines - Following her convincing victory in the opening leg of the Asian Karting Open Championship at the Carmona Race Track in July, up-and-coming sensation Sacha Feliciano posted another win in last weekend’s resumption of the Petron Karting Series on the Enchanted Kingdom Kart Track.

The 17-year-old Beacon Academy student faced stiff opposition during qualifying, where returning veterans Bobby Domingo and Andres Calma used their experience to the fullest to take the front row. In the pre-final, a brush with a rival dropped the lady karter down the order, which meant that she had to start the final from 10th place.

Far from being disheartened, Feliciano buckled down to work in the final where she picked off the karts in front of her, one after another, until she came up behind Jaz Monzones and Calma, who were battling for the lead. With four laps to go, Feliciano executed a heart-stopping maneuver on the second corner that saw her pass the pair in one fluid movement to move ahead and take the checkered flag.

“Although I wasn’t able to score maximum points because of my accident in the pre-final, winning the final after starting from 10th place is still a fulfilling experience. I’d like to thank God for watching over me on the track, my coach Edgen Dy-Liacco, my sister Alex, as well as my crew Rene Buenaobra and Vincent Gonzales for helping me stay focused all weekend,” said the pretty youngster, who is now at second, six points behind Basti Escalante (323 points), her closest rival in the Novice Division of the Yamaha Cup.

Feliciano is set to see action in the next round of the Series on Sept. 25 at the Clark International Speedway in Pampanga.
