Dundee predicts Marquez victory

MANILA, Philippines - Juan Manuel Marquez can find comfort in the words of Angelo Dundee.

In an interview with RingTV.com, the legendary trainer, who turned 90 the other day, insisted that Marquez has Pacquiao’s number.

“Marquez will give Pacquiao a tough fight every day that they’re alive. Another tough fight, like I said. Probably Pacquiao’s toughest fight, because Marquez is a guy who knows how to fight him,” Dundee told RingTV.com’s Sam Letterfield.

Pacquiao and Marquez slug it out for the third time on Nov. 12 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The two have battled for a total 24 rounds, with the first fight ending in a controversial draw in 2004 and the other one – a highly disputed split-decision win for the Filipino four years later.

Marquez is set to arrive early today.

A star-studded show will be held Saturday at the Quirino Grandstand in Luneta to kick off the Pacquiao-Marquez world press tour – the first of four stops. The other legs are slated in New York, Los Angeles and Marquez’s hometown of Mexico City.

This time, Dundee is picking Marquez to win.

“Decision, split, Marquez,” said Dundee, who worked the corners of legendary fighters Muhammad Ali, Sugar Ray Leonard and George Foreman.

But the renowned corner man warned everyone to take his words with a grain of salt.

“I’m warning you: I’m the worst fight picker that you will ever meet. I’m a great analyst, but I’m the worst picker,” said Dundee. “Now, I ain’t crazy, I’m just Angelo Dundee, and I’m a just really bad fight picker.”
