MANILA, Philippines - Eight teams signed up for the first semester conference of the Philippine Sports Commission-Sandugo Collegiate Development League (CDL) which starts Saturday at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.
Seeing action in the first game of the developmental league for collegiate teams are the debuting Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals going up against another CDL new team Informatics International College-QC at 2 p.m. while Olivarez College and St. Paul’s College-Quezon City tangle in the second game.
Olivarez and St. Paul’s are the new teams in the league. The other teams in the league’s second offering following its summer tournament earlier this year are three UAAP Team B teams from Far Eastern University, National University and University of the East. The Tamaraws are seeing action for the second time.
Another returnee, Trinity University of Asia completes the eight-team cast of CDL sponsored by Phiten, Gatorade and official ball Molten.
“PSC will always be supportive of developmental leagues like the CDL and we will continue supporting this league in the years to come, “ said PSC Commissioner Chito Loyzaga whose father is also being honored by the league with its individual awards named after basketball great Carlos Loyzaga.
Summer conference champion Colegio de Sta. Monica has reportedly disbanded its team and cannot play in this conference, while an Indonesian commercial league team has already expressed interest in playing a few games in the PSC-Sandugo CDL as a guest team next month, according to Nino Sinco of the organizing LAN Sports & Events., which in the past has organized sports science seminars, CDL has also offered free seminars to the participating schools as part of its assistance in the teams’ development.
